About Oliver Dudok van Heel

My Environmental Objectives: To leave behind a world my kids and ensuing generations can treasure.

People I admire: Sacha, Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Dalai Lama, Mohamed Yunus

Things I would like to change: Are there any I don't care about? My main areas of concern are climate change, peak oil, industrial agriculture (including GM) and the 6th global extinction.

About me: First and foremost I'm a Dad to Noah, Jaia & Sofia and husband to Sacha. We live in the Sussex countryside in the UK, where we enjoy the clean air and long walks and the occasional homegrown organic vegetable. Music is my oxygen and sport is my release. Career wise, I spent most of my career advising multinationals on being more responsible but was disillusioned by the speed of change. Greenvoice gave me an opportunity to make a change by taking action and increasing the global consciousness around the urgency to tackle issues of environmental and social justice.

Activities: Chief Operating Officer of Greenvoice.com, Member of the UKs Amnesty International Business Group, Tutor at the University of Cambridge’s Post-Graduate Certificate on Sustainable Business

Interests: Strumming my guitar - badly; most ball sports; growing organic vegetables; meditation, changing the world and last but foremost, spending quality time with my family.

Favorite Music: Good singer-songwriters (Jackson Browne, Indigo Girls, Dylan, Springsteen); Blues (BB King, Clapton, Sonny Boy Williamson II, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker).

Favorite Films: Shawshank Redemption, Crash

Favorite TV shows: Don't watch much TV, but will happily make an exception for quality sports.

Favorite Books: On The Road, Jack Kerouac; The Grapes of Wrath, John Steinbeck; The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight, Thom Hartmann; A New Earth, Eckhart Tolle; Soil & Soul, Alastair Macintosh

Favorite Quotes: Favorite Quotes: "Be the change you want to see in the world" - Gandhi The complete "I have a dream" speech - Martin Luther King

Political Views: Green and left-leaning, but with little faith in the traditional political institutions.

  • Hi Oliver,

We are all so much looking forward to seeing you, Sacha and the kids this Xmas. Please pass big xxxx to Sacha for me and tell her I will write soon.

Quick question. We are making ecocert organic skincare in the Hymalayas. I have mainly choosen glass bottles but shampoos, conditioners and body soaps will need to go in plastic. The bottle we have choosen is PETG but has a 7 inside its recycling symbol. Do you know if this is recyclable, I can't find any info on the net?

Ultimately we want to do a bottle exchange program through our distributers, a new set of stores "In Africa Org"...but in the mean time we want to have them as recyclable as possible...

Thanks Oliver...I will be picking your brains this visit and hope to make you our official environmental consultant asap!

  • Hi Oliver,
Is there a way to group my greenvoice friends so that I can send one message. Also can you send me the names of those who joined at the BGG, so that I can ask them to join my friends list

  • Love the website! It was recommended to me by my new mother in law.
Just an addition for your Local Food campaign - there is a great website called whyorganic.org, on which is a thing called the Organic Directory. If you click on this you can search your local region for things like farmers markets, farm shops, restaurants etc. Just thought you might like to add it to your web links
