About Samantha Barraclough
My Environmental Objectives: To recycle more (Once Richmond council stop making it so hard!) To stop using plastic bags. To continue to donate to environmental charities I believe in To stop them building that extra terminal at Heathrow!
People I admire: My best friend and my Dad... the most amazing man I know.
Things I would like to change: Rainforest destruction and the general destruction of natural environments. Animal welfare both in the UK and the rest of the world. Endangered species protection. Cleaner oceans and countryside. Getting rid of as much plastic from packaging as possible!
About me: I've worked in the Charity sector now for nearly seven years and care deeply about the ethos of 'Charity' and believe that many would leave a big hole in the world if they did not exist. I love travelling and experiencing new cultures and believe that you can never stop learning, be that from others, or simply from the environment around you. I moved to Twickenham three years ago in order to get out of the dirty - greenless environs of central London, and so I can escape to my Fathers place in deepest darkest Herefordshire should I wish to... I'm a country girl at heart!
Activities: I run, climb, trek, cycle and do all kinds of other outdoors things in my spare time. I'm climbing Kilimanjaro in July for the Charity Scope (Got to raise 3k... a lot of money, but money I know will be put to great use!)
Favorite Music: Rock & Roll, Old School Rhythm & Blues and Hip-hop are my staples... however; I also love classical music and folk... I guess you could say my tastes are very eclectic. The only music I hate would be hard core house/drum & base style and Country and Weston on the 'my wife left me, my dog left me' style of thing.
Favorite TV shows: I don't watch many... mostly documentaries or the news... however; I love Frasier and am slightly hooked on CSI for some strange reason!
Favorite Books: Just read ‘Atonement’, an amazing book. I tend to like fiction that is based in fact... books on war or historical events. I also read a lot of autobiographies... to many to mention.
Favorite Quotes: 'There is a tide in the affairs of men, which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune; omitted, all the voyage of your life is bound in shallows and in miseries' William Shakespeare.
Political Views: Not something I care to mention. However, I am VERY interested in politics.
