  • SE Essex Organic Gardeners

    GROWING ORGANIC: A series of seminars by Robert Wiseman in conjunction with South East Essex Organic Gardeners The soil: composts and manures, a DIY approach Getting started: how to grow, crop rotation Weed control: managing the plot Pest control: companion planting and organic control Using your space: crops to grow in a small space, what to grow, easy vegetables Practical demonstration on four easy vegetables to grow on the patio, which will vary depending on season. To encourage the “growing of your own food” both on an allotment, in your own garden and even on the patio using the principles of organic gardening. With more young people becoming interested in growing their own fruit and vegetables it is important that they are successful in their efforts, thus helping to build a new generation of gardeners. Everybody is welcome at these seminars, for which we will ask you to give a voluntary donation. Please book early to avoid disappointment. All delegates will receive a full set of notes, normally on CD (or paper by request) Tea and coffee will be provided free.   • Embrace Renewable Energy Training

    Renewable Energy Specialists (The SOLARTEUR®) The Renewable Energy Specialists project will train, test, qualify, and accredit VET teacher trainers, crafts professionals with relevant vocational experience. We aim to equip people with the skills to teach/ train and to carry out skilled work in the renewable energy sector. We give out 20 training grants each worth up to €5,000 for 21 or 30 days training. The grant covers: preparatory training in the UK (up to 1 week), flight expenses, local travel in Germany, food & accommodation for 21 days, full cost of the training programme. Provisional time period is 5th to 25th April 2010. The training includes: 1) Principles of heating and electrical engineering within renewables 2) Ecological-marketing 3) Specialisation 1 Solar Hot Water 4) Specialisation 2 Solar PV 5) Optional module 3 biomass/ wind or heat pump technology 6) Software and simulation programmes For further information and to take part in the training visit www.myembrace.org

D4R is a full-day exploration of resilience as a strategy for thriving in an uncertain world. And a call to action to prepare for the crises and opportunities unfolding today. D4R will empower you to explore resilience through a combination of presentations and workshops (in Open Space format).
