Battery hens do live horrible short lives. They are treated inhumanly and then slaughtered. Free range might live better because they see the light of day. On Average a normal hen will lay 12 to 25 eggs a year factory farmed free range or not will produce up in the hundreds. it is not possible / profitable for a business to sustain itself if they do not force the hens to lay more eggs. this cruel process is done by starving them .At the end of the day they still experience INHUMANE slaughtering. How about not just eating them at all...
