In an attempt to reduce household waste, the Plastic Bag Free Brighton campaign is encouraging all Brighton & Hove shoppers to use and re-use environmentally friendly shopping bags and encourage all shops to supply them.

How you can help

A person uses a plastic carrier bag on average for just 12 minutes. Worldwide over 1.2 trillion plastic bags are used a year, an average of 300 bags for per person. That’s over 1 million bags being used every minutAn estimated 3.5 million bags a year are distributed in Brighton and Hove alone.

In an attempt to reduce household waste, the Plastic Bag Free Brighton campaign is encouraging all Brighton & Hove shoppers to use and re-use environmentally friendly shopping bags and encourage all shops to supply them.

This is intended to be a community campaign to bring together those of us who want to make Brighton plastic bag free.
