Green Transport Initiative.
Travelling green is easy! It is all about travelling responsibly. Walk or cycle when you can; if not, use Public transport - it is much friendlier to the environment than the motor car, emitting less CO2 per passenger. Only use a car when you really have to and when you do, drive economically. Never take an internal flight!

Why should you join?
It has never been a better time to switch to public transport, especially with rising fuel costs. Loose the hassle of learning to drive, vehicle purchase, tax and maintainance! The advantages of public transport are apparent. It is more environmentally friendly than motor cars on a whole, and a lot less hassle! People have a lot of misconceptions about public transport. It is getting better and there is a lot of investment in the sector as a whole. So go for it. Leave those car keys at home, and bus it a day :)
Even then, if circumstances are against public transport in some situation, using your car responsibly can make a difference. Keep the tires pumped up, stick to the speed limit, don't carry any unneeded weight and always avoid over-revving. Even though these are simple suggestions they do reduce those CO2 emissions and save you fuel! If your taking the car for the daily commute, take your work mates along and car pool. Small steps such as these save you money and make you more environmentally friendly. Doesn't that make you feel good?
Walk it or Cycle it, but when its too far, bus it or train it. If they are not options, then drive following the tips above! Remember, above all - never choose an internal flight!

Use public transport at least once a week
It's so easy to become dependent on your car, and if we all pledged to use public transport more then we'd make a huge difference to the environment.

A petition is the ideal way to demonstrate public support of your cause, and put pressure on a person or organisation to take action.

It is as easy as booking a ticket!
I'm off down to London early next month to see my girlfriend. I guess you don't have to question how I'm traveling! Naturally I'm grabbing the train. You know what... its work it too! It is cheaper that by car, faster than by car and a lot more comfortable too! Buffet car, toilets and other facilities too! I've also reserved a table seat so I can get my laptop out and work.
Here are my carbon emittion savings too. Infact, this single journey saves enough to run my house for over a day :)

This week so far!
Many of you may have noticed we were featured in the latest Greenvoice newsletter which is always a good start even if it didn't do quite as well on link-throughs. I do emplore anyone interested in this campaign to tell their friends! Spread the message and get them to join us!
I've also asked Caroline Coombs about her new "production". I am still considering it, but I don't know if it is the right direction for us. Their project seems to focus more on positive youthful figures regarding issues that portray the youth negatively like size 0, knife crime and bulling. If anything transport issues are related to older generations and politics.
I've also sent out my own little GreenVoice newsletter to my friends. I think I'll give it a post on facebook after this blog post! I've got a lot of work on my websites to do too, I will have a look and see if I can promote my campaign within the network, however gaming and transport hardly link. It'll be tenuous if I manage it.
That is all for now, thanks for reading.// N.B. Why the repost?
As you have have noticed, the first post copied lots of the formatting tags from word too, urgh! -
Where to being?
The title of this, the first blog entry for this campaign poses the biggest issue with the campaign. It's start point. Travelling green is easier than many people think. It doesn’t involve walking or cycling everywhere. Being more environmentally aware does not mean a complete lack of pollution; it is about reducing it as far as we can technologically and socially while maintaining our lifestyle and not hampering future generations. If everyone were to ditch their car and catch a bus or a train the effect would be remarkable. Public transport is inherently cleaner than the equivalent requirement of motor cars. There are other options too. If you are doing the daily commute alone, then ditching the car for a motorcycle is cleaner, quicker and cheaper. Don’t get me wrong. I know the car is needed in some situations, but you can make it an eco journey in a number of easy ways. When getting that all important new car look for an efficient engine, even consider hybrids. Even easier, smarter driving can make a big difference. Make sure your tyres are pumped up, ditch any heavy clutter you don’t need and keep to speed limits. Above all, if you know other people at work who live near, then carpool.
I plan to give this campaign a little shuffle around today.
The answer to my question... this campaign starts here on this site and with you, the readers and how you act. Spread the message and act responsibly.
