About 'Cut Your Flower Miles'

Exotic flowers are beautiful but out of season have to be flown in from far away places like Kenya and Colombia. In today’s climate where we all have to be carbon footprint-conscious, we need to cut our flower miles by buying local home-grown flowers.

How you can help

Exotic flowers are beautiful but out of season have to be flown in from far away places like Kenya and Colombia.

In the United Kingdom e.g. out of the £2 billion yearly cut flower market, only 10% of the flowers sold are home-grown. This means that 90% of flowers sold are either trucked or flown in from far away places.

What's the solution? Simple: think local before you buy flowers. Ask your local flower shop where their flowers originate from and then start buying local flowers.
