About 'Change billions of lives. Including yours.'

As you read this, thousands of chicks are being hatched – destined for supermarket shelves. Their future rests in your hands. You have the power to grant them a better life by making the right choices when you shop. We're here to show you how.

How you can help

Compassion in World Farming was founded over 40 years ago in 1967 by a British farmer who became horrified by the development of modern, intensive factory farming.

Today we campaign peacefully to end all cruel factory farming practices. We believe that the biggest cause of cruelty on the planet deserves a focussed, specialised approach – so we only work on farm animal welfare.

We believe that farm animals should not and need not suffer. If you agree, please consider supporting us today. The Compassionate Shopping Guide gives you our know-how in your pocket. It tells you which chicken and eggs to buy and which to avoid. It also tells you how each supermarket scores on the welfare of other farm animals.

After all - chickens are only part of the story. 60 billion farm animals are reared every year and they rely on you to choose their quality of life. We know you care. We also know it’s confusing. You want to make the right choices, but you don’t trust big companies to tell you the truth...

That's why we're committed to giving you up-to-date, clear and impartial information about your food. We want you to know the full story, so we regularly conduct our supermarket survey to compare how they really treat the animals that end up on your plate.

Download the Compassionate Shopping Guide now from Promises section – you'll be part of a growing movement which is transforming the lives of farm animals worldwide.
