World Water Day 2007. The UK government announces that it will support the development of public-public partnerships in the water sector – one of WDM’s key demands.

This is a real success. Ninety per cent of piped water supplies are managed by public providers and they desperately need support.

This time last year, the UK government had probably not even heard of public-public partnerships. Thanks to thousands of people campaigning on this issue we have created a policy shift that we hope will make a real difference on the ground.
